Thomas Richie Dollar, Sr. 63 of Box Springs, Ga. died Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 05, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home with Rev. David Dollar officiating. A private Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Ga.
Mr. Dollar was born December 10, 1946 in Columbus, Ga. son of the late William H. and Eunice Brown Dollar. He Retired after 16 years with Pratt and Whitney and was a Free and Accepted Mason and an active member of the Midland Lodge No. 144. He was raised to the degree of Master Mason at Midland Lodge on April 20, 1998 and was elected as Worshipful Master there in 2003 and in 2005. He served as Director of Work from 2003 to 2005. He also served as Secretary of Midland Lodge in 2008 and 2009. During most of the past decade he served as a mentor and instructor of the Masonic arts to many of Midland's new masons. His memory will be cherished by them forever.
Mr. Dollar was preceded in death by his wife Linda Kay Dollar, a sister, Laura Simmons and a brother Donnie Ray Dollar.
Survivors include one son Richie Dollar, Jr. of Box Springs, Ga., one daughter Helen Dollar Maples (Ronald) of Norfolk, Va., one brother William Hurley Dollar of Columbus, Ga., one sister Betty Stone of Phenix City, Al., nieces and nephews William Keith Simmons, Bruce Simmons, James Simmons, Michael Stone, Brittney and Kayle Blackmon, one grandchild and his best friend Robby Armstrong.
