Thomas Blanton Crew, Jr., "Big Tom", 73, of Fortson, GA died Friday, July 1, 2016 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Chaplain Mike Fortenberry officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Everyone is invited to attend a memorial reception at 219 Food and Spirits 5167 GA-219 Fortson, GA, 706-984-8001, beginning at 5:00 PM on Saturday, July 9, 2016.
The native and lifelong resident of Columbus, GA was a 1960 graduate of Columbus High School. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. Tom was employed many years with Reeves Construction later becoming Southern Asphault. He owned and operated Big Tom's Seafood in Columbus and Panama City for over five years. Tom later worked with Valley Fir and Redwood until his retirement in 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Blanton Crew, Sr. and Dorothy Alexander Crew.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Alan Rice of Statesboro, GA and Shannon and Kenneth Gause of Charlottesville, VA, five grandchildren, Berkley Gause of Virginia Beach, VA, Katelyn Gause of Melbourne, Australia, Shelby Rice of Statesboro, GA, Madison Rice of Statesboro, GA and Teresa Wombles (Chad) of Wrightsville, GA, two great grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Glenda Crew of Fortson, GA.
