Theresa Jean Lapaz
April 6, 1941 — February 28, 2023
Theresa Jean LaPaz, a 46-year resident of Richland, GA passed away peacefully in the hands of her heavenly father on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Savannah Grand Assisted Living under the care of Preferred Hospice of Columbus GA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 4, 2023, in the chapel of McMullen Funeral home and Crematory with Rev. Ken Dawson Officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, March 3, 2023, at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Harmony Cemetery in Richland, GA.
Theresa was born on April 6, 1941, in Cincinnati, OH to the late Howard Luther Herbert and Theresa Melville Jackson Herbert. She and her late husband relocated to Richland, GA in 1973 where they owned and operated the Hilltop Quality Foods as well as Pecan farming. When you met Theresa you knew how kind, loving and selfless she was and how she cared for others and her community. Her faith in the Lord called her and Manuel to build Deerfield Estates Baptist Church in Webster County, where she was a member before joining the family at Cascade Hills Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel LaPaz, both parents, sons, Kenny and James LaPaz.
She is survived by her sons, Jimmy Renfroe (Misty) of Cusseta, GA, Danny LaPaz, of Midland, GA, Garry LaPaz (Mylynn) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and a daughter Tina LaPaz, of Columbus, GA, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
