Terry Richard Payton, Sr., 77, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services with Masonic Rites and Naval Honors will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 15, 2011 at Central Christian Church 7775 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 with Reverend Chuck Jones and Mr. Greg Runnion officiating. Entombent will be held in the Masonic Mausoleum at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Payton was born September 8, 1933 in Atlanta, GA son of the late James Thomas Payton and Gladys Bruner Payton. He retired after 23 years from West Point Stevens. He was a member of Central Christian Church, was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Midland Masonic Lodge #144, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, and a Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Harbuck Payton of Columbus, GA, two sons, Terry R. Payton, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Missy, of Columbus, GA and Bradley Lewis Stuckey of Columbus, GA, daughter, Allison Jill Payton of Columbus, GA, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
The family would like to thank the staff at Columbus Hospice; Lynn, Wendy, Debbie, and Chaplain Dan MacMinn for their love and concern in taking care of our loved one.
