Terry Wayne Bell, 57, passed away May 3, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer. A well-known businessman and beloved community leader, Terry enhanced the lives of all those who knew him. Born on December 25, 1960, in Raleigh, NC. Terry graduated from Cary High School. He spent his professional career in the automobile industry at numerous dealerships throughout the Southeast, including notable stints at Bob Tyler Toyota (General Manager) in Pensacola, FL; Palmers Toyota Superstore (General Manager) in Mobile, AL; Eastern Shore Hyundai (Co-Owner and General Manager) in Daphne, AL; Eastern Shore Toyota (General Manager) in Daphne, AL; Headquarter Nissan (Co-Owner and General Manager) in Columbus, GA; and Benton Nissan (General Manager) in Hoover, AL. He was recognized for numerous professional accomplishments. In 2017, Terry and the staff of Headquarter Nissan were honored with the Nissan Global Award of Excellence.
Terry dedicated much of his life to benefiting others. He served on numerous civic organizations and boards. He used his prominent stature in the community to help a variety of non-profit organizations, including Warrior Outreach, House of Heroes, Mercy Med, and many others. He adored those who served in the United States Military. His appreciation for local law enforcement and first responders was well known. An avid athlete, Terry excelled at multiple sports. He especially loved his cross-fit family, N.C. State athletics, and the Minnesota Vikings.
Terry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kimberly Minter Bell, and children Zachery Wayne Bell (Ashley) and Emily Layton Bell. Also surviving are his father Charlie Wayne Bell (Kay), brother Jeff Bell (Danie), niece Lena Bell, sister-in law Terri Minter, niece Robin Minter, and nephew Trey Minter. He was predeceased by his mother Geraldine Bell, and brother-in-law Ray Minter.
A celebration of Terry Bell's life will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 2pm at Cascade Hills Church in Columbus, GA. Dr. Bill Purvis will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 1pm inside the church. Burial will occur at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local charities of choice. Arrangements are being handled by McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
