Dr. Terry M. Austin, 72, of Pine Mountain, GA died Thursday, February 2, 2017 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 6:00 PM Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Mr. Carey Jones officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Dr. Austin was born December 12, 1944 in St. Augustine, FL son of the late David Marshall Austin and Imogene Pert Austin. He attended GA Tech before completing his undergraduate and Doctorate in Physics at the University of Florida. He began working as an International Business Manager for Union Carbide, worked as the Business Director of the South American Division at TSYS, then taught as an Associate Professor of Physics at LaGrange College, and also as an Adjunct Professor of Physics at Auburn University.
Survivors include his loving wife, Virginia "Ginger" Austin of Pine Mountain, GA, daughters, April Anne Austin of Denver, CO, Terri Michelle Brooks (Christopher) of Lake Harding, AL and Nancy K. Gross of Red House, W. VA, sister, Sheila Pugh (Sam) of Live Oak, FL, and 3 grandchildren, Macey Michelle Green, Andrew Green, and Savannah Gross.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the Cancer Treatment Center of America-Newnan Campus, Dr. Rich's Team and Columbus Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the LaGrange College New Physics Department 601 Broad St. LaGrange, GA 30240.
