Teddy Norman Whealton

Teddy Norman Whealton, 78, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, July 22, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday August 2, 2023 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. John Burnett officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.

Teddy was born January 31, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA son of the late William Hamilton Whealton, Jr. and Betsy Ross Hilghman Whealton.  He is a retired Master Sergeant (E-8) from the Army earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for combat action In Vietnam in 1969. After retiring from the Army in 1984 , he graduated from Columbus State University in 1991 with Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. He then worked for a Private Security Company and retired from Harvey Lumber Company. He had over 50 years active service with the Boy Scouts of America.  Earning numerous  awards such as Baptist Good Shepherd Award, Silver Beaver Award, Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award, the District Award of Merit, Wood Badge Gilwell Award, Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor and Founders Award . He received his 50 year of service recognition with the Masons with Mt. Hermon Lodge.

Other than his parents, Teddy is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Lynne Whealton and granddaughter, Mallory Jackson.

Survivors include his children, Beverly Robidoux of Columbus, GA, Bill Whealton (Lee) of Columbus, GA, Betsy Swaney (Joey) of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Shelby Robidoux of Fayetteville, NC, Yngwie Perez (Keturah) of Columbus, GA, Emma Jenkins of Columbus, GA; great grandchildren, Madison Jackson of Columbus, GA, Carson Jackson of Columbus, GA, and Ziyah Perez of Columbus, GA.
