Susan Elizabeth Slaughter
January 24, 1955 — March 2, 2016
Susan Elizabeth "Beth" Slaughter, 61, of Columbus, Georgia died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Epworth United Methodist Church 2400 Devonshire Drive Columbus, Georgia 31904. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Mrs. Slaughter was born January 24, 1955 in Fort Benning, Georgia, the daughter of the late Willis E. Burgess and Nellie A. Burgess. She was a homemaker and enjoyed singing in her church choir as well as being a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Barry.
Survivors include her husband Joe Slaughter, her daughter Crystal Slaughter and granddaughter Ashley Slaughter. She also leaves four siblings, brothers Robert Burgess (Sharon), Don Burgess (Tammy), John Burgess (Paulina Grace) and a sister Anita Davis (Mac) along with many nieces and nephews.
