Andy, son of Walter Vinson and Elissa Eidam Tidwell, was born in Columbus, Georgia on September 20, 1963. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, a huge Nascar and long-time Bill Elliott fan. He was also a true die-hard Dallas Cowboy's fan. In fact, he had requested that the Cowboys serve as his pallbearers so they could let him down one last time. He loved to hunt and fish as well as spend time with his beloved rat terriers, Dolly and his precious Dusty, who preceded him in death on October 20, 2013. Andy graduated from Kendrick High School in 1981 and retired from Auten Poultry and Food Service (Glover-Auten Foods), where he worked for more than twenty years.
Other than his parents, Andy is survived by his wife Teresa; one son, Steven and girlfriend Caitlin; one sister, Patricia Mitchell and husband Ron of Columbus Georgia; two brothers, Mike Tidwell and wife Kim of Phenix City, Alabama and Mark Tidwell and wife Patti, also of Columbus, Georgia; three grandchildren, Autumn Tidwell, Stephanie Tidwell and Steven Tidwell, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to thank the Midtown Medical Center eighth floor Intensive Care Unit nursing staff and physicians for the excellent care they provided to Andy, and the kindness and compassion shown to the family. Also, a very special thank you to the John B. Amos Cancer Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Andy's memory to the American Cancer Society, 233 12th Street #710, Columbus, GA 31901 or PAWS Humane, P. O. Box 8954, Columbus, GA 31908.
