With heavy hearts, at the age of 37, we announce the death of Steven Charles McKeel of Box Springs, Georgia, who passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Campus.
He was born on June 22, 1982 in Columbus, Georgia to his loving parents, John Charles "Chuck" Jr. and Karen Pollock McKeel, of Box Springs, Georgia. He had previously worked as both a sheet metal worker and EMT. Steven had a generous, compassionate heart and protective stature. The only thing he enjoyed more than skeet shooting, sharing memories around a roaring fire and grilling the perfect piece of meat was playing with his precious girls. He was saved and baptized in his youth at Oakland Baptist Church in Mauk, Georgia. Steven was preceded in death by his beloved grandfathers, John C. McKeel Sr. and James Ashley Pollock, and cherished uncle, David Mark McKeel. Survivors include his dearest parents, John C. Jr. and Karen Pollock McKeel of Box Springs, his grandmothers, Kitty McKeel and Gayle Pollock both of Columbus, his treasured children and
their mother, Katelyn Rose McKeel, Kyndal Grace McKeel and Kristin McKeel of Weston, his sister, and adored nieces, Jennifer McKeel Owens (Daniel Stubbs), Mallory Elise Owens and Rebekah Gayle Stubbs of Box Springs and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Steven was a son, father, brother and friend but his most esteemed titles were that of "Daddy" and "Uncle Bub". He was loved immeasurably and as a child of God he is now at peace. His burdens, sorrows and struggles are no more; only his love and light now remain to be carried in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 11, 2019 at Parkhill Cemetery with his great-uncle, Submarine Naval Chaplain, Joe D. Forrest officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.
