Stanley Melvin Zimmerman, 82, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday December 30, 2014 at the Columbus Hospice House.
Cryptside services with military honors will be held 2:00 PM Saturday January 3, 2015 at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Mark Sasser officiating, according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Zimmerman was born November 18, 1932 in Meridian, NY to the late Fred Zimmerman and Violet Borst Zimmerman. He was a diesel mechanic with Bill Heard Chevrolet and was a U.S. Army Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal. He served during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his children, Bruce Zimmerman of Vermont, Melissa Magill (Ed) of Lakeland, FL, and William Scott Zimmerman (Ami) of Columbus, GA, sister, Doris Furman of Sydney Center, NY, brother, Fred Zimmerman of Kentucky, and grandchildren, Lawson Puffer of Albany, NY, Lonissa Kennedy of California, and Tiffany Wray of Mooresville, NC.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 or the American Cancer Society 233 12th Street Columbus, GA 31901.
