SFC (Ret) Stanley "Stan" David McElwee, 72, of Columbus, GA, died on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Jake Almeter officiating. Interment to follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
SFC McElwee was born June 3, 1943 to Earl and Sarah McElwee in Piedmont, AL. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired after 22 years of service. SFC McElwee later retired from the U.S. Civil Service where he worked as a Food Service and Sanitation Inspector. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary McElwee, son, Scott McElwee and wife Monika, daughters, Tammy Lesh and husband John, and Kim Griffin and husband Charlie, sisters, Estelle Nowood, and Glenda Naugher and husband Wayne, brothers, Dois McElwee and wife Romaine, and Dan McElwee, grandchildren, Sara Cruzan, Andrew Lesh, Katelyn Lesh, Drake Griffin, Jaclyn Griffin, Kendall McElwee, and Ashton McElwee, and special nieces and nephews, including Wanda Belyeu, and Pat Heaton.
