Stanford Weldon Childs 82, of Columbus, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 03, 2021 in Parkhill Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Mr. Childs was born August 21, 1938 in Irwin County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Aubry Adkins and Clonnie Veal Childs. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired after 25 years with Georgia Power. Mr. Childs was a member of River of Columbus Church and loved spending time with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. He never missed any of their ball games. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog fan.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn Faye Childs of Columbus, Georgia, his children; Pastor Mike Childs and his wife Kym of Midland, Georgia, Greg Childs and his wife Gayla of Pine Mountain, Georgia, Shari Carter and her husband Jay of Fortson, Georgia. He is also survived by his sister, Myrna Jean Wiggins, of Waterloo, Ga. 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
