SSG (Ret.) Edward Dale Solomon, 78 of Phenix City died Monday, August 20, 2012 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held 3:00 P.M., Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL with Rev. Jeremy Greene officiating. A private interment will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
SSG (Ret.) Solomon was born August 24, 1933 in Cisco, Texas son of the late Willie Mae Stiffler Solomon and Alpha A. Solomon. He was a retired SSG from the U. S. Army after serving 22 years having served during the Korean War and the Viet Nam Conflict. After retiring from the military he went to work with Civil Service at Fort Benning as a heavy duty mechanic and retired from there after 15 years. He was presently working for Quest Global as a truck driver. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Melba E. Solomon and son-in-law Bobby Gene Jones.
Survivors include his daughters, Melba Elaine Solomon and Janice Solomon Jones both of Phenix City, AL; son, Stephen Solomon (Tina) of Hollywood, MD; grandchildren, Elisa Daniels (Nathan), Jason Voyles (Kristina) Stephanie Voyles, Mandy Hussey (Kile), Brandy Bentley (Michael), Tabitha Jones and Kimberly Solomon; great grandchildren, Tatum & Wesley Rose Daniels, Tyler, Austin, Shelby and Josie Mae Voyles, Brinkley, Peyton, Kile IV, Landon & Sophia Hussey, Taya and Drake Bentley and Amberleigh Solomon; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
