SSG Pedro V. Rivera, 91, of Columbus, GA died Friday, July 8, 2011 at Muscogee Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gene Cook officiating. A private entombment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
SSG Rivera was born November 20, 1919 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico son of the late Vidal and Felicita Ortiz Rivera. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant and he attended Holy Family Catholic Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Rosa Pinna Rivera.
Survivors include four sons, LT. Col. Ret. Jose Rivera (Sherry) of Columbus, GA, Pier L. Rivera (Sherrie) of Newnan, GA, Pier G. Rivera (Linda) of Silt, CO and Albert L. Rivera (Michelle) of Colorado Springs, CO, two daughters, Marisa Costabile (Bill) of Colorado Springs, CO and Liliana Wood (Phillip) of Waverly Hall, GA, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
