Spence was known as the life of the party and loved few things more than his Georgia Bulldogs. Any Saturday afternoon during football season, one could count on Spence cheering on the red and black. Loudly! But even his beloved Dawgs took a back seat to the love he felt for his wife Susan, their daughter Katie-Spencer, and son William. When rescue dog Teddy came into the Sealy family fold, it didn’t take long for him to declare Spence as his “person.” Teddy has even been known to take over Spence’s Facebook profile picture a time or two.

Spence Sealy was born on July 24, 1964, in Cuthbert, GA. He was the son of James and Barbara Franklin Sealy. Spence was full of pride over his South Georgia roots and has worked tirelessly as the Vice President of Advancement for Andrew College since 2018. Before joining the team at Andrew, he served as the Senior Associate Vice President for Development at Columbus State University, in addition to several other fund-raising positions over the years including the Florida State University Foundation. Spence believed in paying it forward and putting his talents as a people person to use in his professional life.

Spence Sealy graduated from Randolph Clay High School in Cuthbert, GA, received his Associate of Arts degree at Andrew College, his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia, and finished his post secondary education by earning a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Brenau University. Spence was also a proud Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE). He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Columbus, GA and an usher at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Susan Gleaton Sealy of Columbus GA, daughter Katherine Spencer Sealy, son William Patrick Spencer, father James “Jimmy” Sealy, mother Barbara Franklin Sealy, sister,Lori Allen (Robbie), and nephew Grant Allen.
