SPC. Charles Thomas "Tommy" Fairbairn, 29, beloved son of Wayne S. "Charlie" Fairbairn and Ann Faulker Reyes (Ray), cherished brother of Savannah Fairbairn, Zolio “Zo” Reyes, Yadrianiss Lawrence passed away on June 2, 2024, in Tacoma, Washington.
A Celebration of Life with U.S. Army Honors will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Solid Rock Church 6959 Warm Springs Road, Midland, Ga. 31820 with Rev. Jay Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, June 14, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory
Born on April 28, 1995, in Columbus, GA, Tommy was an active Army service member stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state.
Tommy was a devoted family member, treasured by his aunts Amy Fairbairn Judd (Jen), Katie Fairbairn Keys (Randy), Courtney Shaw Babb (Brian) the late Ruth Faulker Robinson, uncles Luke Fairbairn (Molly), Brent Smith, Brian Shaw (Dona), and Jeff Shaw (Lynley), and grandparents Christine Shaw (Allen) and the late James Gary Faulker and the late Jean Gonterman, and the late Wayne Walter Fairbairn, Jr. He leaves behind dozens of cousins who will fondly remember his laughter and kindness.
Tommy leaned into everything he did including loving his friends and family, hunting and fishing, working, and serving his country. His enthusiasm and dedication were evident in every aspect of his life, creating lasting memories and stories that will be cherished by those who knew him.
Tommy graduated from Shaw High School in Columbus, GA, in 2013 and pursued a career as an electrician. Following his lifelong dream of serving his country, he enlisted in the Army and joined Bravo Company, 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. He served deployments in South Korea and other locations, forging lifelong friendships and bonds with his brothers in arms, whom he considered family.
An honorable man, Tommy was known for his ability to make everyone laugh and his unwavering dedication to his close friends and their families. His legacy of care, humor, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A military service will be held at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in July to honor his service and allow his Army family to pay their respects.
