Smiley K. Davis, Jr., 80 , died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 28, 2011 from 5 till 6:30 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. Funeral services and burial will be private.
Smiley was born June 10, 1930 in Oronoco, VA son of the late Smiley K. Davis, Sr. and Winell Clements Davis. He retired from the U. S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam. He later retired from Civil Service with over 45 years of combined service. Smiley was a member of Wynnton United Methodist Church and the Goodwill Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Ina R. Davis, two daughters, Lorraine Davis Cullefer (Keith) of Columbus, GA, Teresa Davis Randle (Bill) Woodbridge, VA, two brothers, Francis Davis, Hannon W. Davis; three sisters, Hazel Smith, Maxine Strider and Violet Campbell all of Virginia; two granddaughters, Lauren Anne Bryant and Clare Leigh Akin, great grandson Liam Bryant Akin.
Smiley's motto was "Accept me as I am so, I may learn what I can become."
