Shirley O. Smith, 79, of Columbus, GA died Monday, April 18, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Gary Hartman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Smith was born on August 5, 1936 daughter of Louem Henderson Garnto of Columbus, GA and the late Vernon Lawton Garnto.
Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clinton Smith and her brother, Bill Garnto.
Survivors other than her mother include her daughters, Jodie Jones of Columbus, GA, Robin Morefield (Ronnie) of Phenix City, AL and Kim Poe of Columbus, GA, son, Tracy Smith of Columbus, GA, brothers, Buddy Garnto of Phenix City, AL, Alton Garnto of Columbus, GA, Lawton Garnto of Waverly Hall, GA and Ben Garnto of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Clint Poe and Mackenzie Morefield, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved cats, Clinty and Baby.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Valley Rescue Mission 2903 2nd Ave. Columbus, GA 31904 or to the Humane Society 4900 Milgen Rd. Columbus, GA 31907.
