Shirley B. Reese, 87, Columbus, GA passed away on November 22, 2023 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, November 27, 2023 at Beallwood Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Williamson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery following the service. Her grandsons Eric Boan, Will Boan, Charlie Dunn, Caleb Farrow, Justin Bishop, Jared West, Ethan Brubaker and Carlo Valentine will serve as pallbearers.
Shirley was born January 17, 1936 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late R C and Ethel Grant Bowden. She served as the pianist for Beallwood Baptist Church for 53 years and was the office manager for Signs, Inc. for 50 years. Shirley’s home was always open as she constantly hosted family and friends. In her later years she loved to travel and was an avid shopper. She was a devoted “GiGi” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar J Reese (Joie) of 37 years, daughter, Jan Reese; son, Jody Reese; sisters, Saundra Bowden and Myra Bowden Mason.
Survivors include daughter Jill Reese Daughtry (Randy) of Newnan, GA; Julie Reese Boan (Jim) of Phenix City, AL; daughter-in-law Jana Reese of Columbus, GA; brother and sister-in-law Grant and Kay Bowden of Valley, AL. Grandchildren Jamie Bishop (Justin); Sarah Farrow (Caleb); Eric Boan (Leslee); Megan Dunn (Charlie); Will Boan (Stephanie); Brittany West (Jared); Molly Brubaker (Ethan); Maggie Valentine (Carlo); Great Grandchildren Kennadi, Lyncoln, Abigail, Matthew, James, Sarah, Judah, Elsie, Jackson, Ruby, Reese, Clark, Jack and numerous nieces and nephews.
