Shirley Jean Moring, 85, of Columbus, Georgia went to heaven Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Columbus Hospice.  She was known as a woman who fiercely loved God and shared the gospel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Pinehurst Baptist Church, 4217 St. Marys Rd. Columbus, Georgia 31907 with Rev. Tony R. Dickerson officiating. A private family interment will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907.

Shirley was born June 3, 1937 in Henry County, Alabama to the late Hirschel Creel, Sr. and Maudrie Carr Creel.  Shirley was social and loving, her family and friendships were vital to her.  She was an active member of Pinehurst Baptist Church for over forty years.  Shirley worked as a skilled seamstress, with many praises in her trade, sewing for civilians and military.  She designed many detailed projects for her children and grandchildren.  Shirley served as a passionate mentor with the Christian Women’s Job Corp.  She had a servant’s heart and served in any ministry where the Lord called her. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Bobby Earl Moring, to whom she was married to for over fifty years before Bob’s passing on November 24, 2006.

Pallbearers will be Cody Moring, Matt Moring, Mike Moring, Jerry Pinataro, Todd Smith, and JC Cross.

Survivors include her daughters, Connie Cox of Copperas Cove, TX, Janet Ford of Columbia, TN, sons, David Moring (Maria) of Birmingham, AL, Allen Moring of Marble Hill, MO, Gary Moring of Columbus, GA, sisters, Fran Henderson of Murphy, TN, Glenda Borener of Dothan, AL, Gayle White of Madison, AL, Meril Berry (Franklin) of Troy, AL, grandchildren, Melissa McCormick (Jeremy), Michelle Morant (Calvin), Bethany Smith (Todd), Jessica Bellinger (John), William “Mike” Moring (Melissa), Matthew Moring (Christina), Cody Moring (Jena), Alyssa Cross (JC), Laura Davis (Kyle), Candace Pinataro (Jerry), Ashley Patrick (Justin), twenty-three great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
