Shirley Warrick Hood

Shirley Warrick Hood, of Columbus passed away on Friday January 24, 2024 with her loving family by her side.

A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:00 am EST located at Calvary Baptist Church 7556 Old Moon Road, Columbus GA 31909 according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus GA 31907.

Shirley was born July 26, 1951 in Columbus, GA to the late Carol Gene Warrick and Jolene Fowler Warrick. A proud graduate of Jordan High School, Class of 1969, she pursued higher education at Pensacola Christian College. She worked in several diverse roles throughout her career ultimately retiring from AFLAC.

Shirley was cherished for her quick wit, infectious humor, and genuine kindness.  She was generous, humble, and had a natural ability to connect with everyone she met. Always greeting others with a smile. Above all, Shirley was devoted to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend, roles she embraced with her whole heart. Her legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Shirley loved her family, loved cooking, and was most happy when her home was full of family and friends and she was cooking for them. There was nothing she enjoyed more than having her home filled with family.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband Gary Hood of Columbus, GA. Sons: Steven Hood (Leslie) of Fortson, GA, Eric Hood (Valerie) of Columbus, GA, and Jason Hood (Jodie) of Fortson, GA. Grandchildren: Stefanie Hood, Nalisha Bush (Tommy), Natasha Tons (Samuel), Haley Rackley (Hunter), Landon Hood, Levi Hood, Elijah Hood, Addison Hood, and seven great grandchildren.

The family request that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
