Sherry Lynn Stark, 66, of Columbus, GA died Monday, July 16, 2018 at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service celebrating her life, her joy and final peace will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center for Continuing Education 4225 University Ave. Columbus, GA 31907 (corner of College Dr. and E. Lindsay Dr). All are invited to come and share in the celebration and share special memories of Sherry.
Sherry was born November 26, 1951 in Long Island, NY. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Lillian Stark. Sherry and her family moved to Warner Robins, GA in 1958 where she spent her childhood before moving to Columbus in 1974.
She was a talented athlete excelling in basketball, softball and golf. She was known as "Little Sherry" on the basketball court because of her 5'3" height. She played Center for the Warner Robins High School varsity basketball team all four years of high school. She overcame her lack of height on the court by being extremely quick and agile.
Following high school, she attended college in Rome, GA and Columbus State University before beginning a 34-year career at Pratt-Whitney (United Technology).
She is survived by her brothers, Carl Stark (Teresa) and Gary Stark (Elaine), nephews, Chad and Corey Stark of Macon, GA, extended family, Vicki Flanagan, Kevin and Melissa Flanagan, Kelli and Wayne Fuller.
Her extended family is grateful and thankful for being able to provide her with loving care in their home during her battle with cancer. She will be missed, and her memory will be forever cherished.
