Sheila Burt Goforth, a beacon of love and joy, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, at the age of 68 in her hometown of Midland, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, March 15, 2024 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Ed Rollins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Sheila born on February 17, 1956, to the late Grady and Glorene Burt, Sheila lived a life marked by enthusiasm, warmth, and an unwavering spirit of adventure. Sheila, known affectionately as "Sheila" to her friends and family, was a cherished figure in the Midland community. Her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to all who knew her. She shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with her late husband, James Goforth, whose memory continued to be a guiding light in her life. A loving mother and grandmother, Sheila's legacy is carried on through her family: sons Jayson Cullifer (Amber) and Justin Cullifer; grandchildren Sawyer Williams, Khloie Cullifer, Saylor Cullifer, Mason Fritz, Aiden Klenke, Emerson Lippert-Goforth, and Evelyn Goforth. Her nurturing spirit extended to her brothers Mark Burt (Barbara) and Dwight Burt (Jennifer), as well as her nephew Grady Burt and nieces Randall Burt Minter and Kendall Burt. Sheila's role as a matriarch was deeply felt, and her guidance and love will be profoundly missed. Sheila's zest for life was contagious, and she was often found at the heart of a lively gathering. Her passion for travel led her to explore the world, frequently traveling to casinos with family and friends, and enjoying cruises that created lasting memories. These journeys were not just about the destinations but about the joy of being together, sharing experiences, and savoring each moment. Those who knew Sheila will remember her as loving and thoughtful, with a spirited personality that could light up a room. Her kindness extended beyond her family to touch the lives of everyone she met. Sheila's laughter, her generous spirit, and her readiness to lend an ear or a helping hand were hallmarks of her character.
