Sheila Dale Dunn, a beacon of kindness and selflessness, departed from this world on February 8, 2024, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Parkhill Cemetery with Pastor Ed Rollins officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM,February 15, 2024 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Sheila was born on March 17, 1951, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late Andy and Dorothy Hagler and spent her final moments surrounded by the warmth and love of her family in Tavares, Florida. Her professional life was marked by a steady work ethic. For many years, she worked at Smith & Nephew, where she made many lifelong friends. She later retired from St. Francis, where she was a valued member of the Materials Management team. Her colleagues will remember her for her collaborative spirit and her tireless dedication to her work.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Sheila's passions were many and varied. She was a great cook, known for her comfort food, that brought joy to family gatherings and. Her garden was a place of tranquility and beauty, reflecting her love for nurturing life in all its forms. The beach was her sanctuary, a place where she found peace and solace in the rhythm of the waves and the warmth of the sun.
To describe Sheila as loving and selfless would only begin to capture the essence of her character. She approached every person with an open heart and a generosity of spirit that knew no bounds. Her faith was the compass that guided her through life's challenges and triumphs, and it shone brightly in her every action. In her last days, her continuous motto was “God first, family and friends second and everything will fall into place”. She repeated those words many times in her last days.
Sheila's presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her kindness and warmth touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of friends, family, and even strangers. The memories of her laughter, her comforting embrace, and her unwavering support will continue to inspire those she loved.
As we bid farewell to Sheila, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit lives on through the countless lives she enriched. Her example of love, compassion, and faith will remain a guiding light for generations to come. Though she has left our sight, her legacy of love and selflessness will never fade.
Sheila was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Dunn, and her cherished sister, Nell Newsome. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her devoted daughter, Cindy Watley and her husband Michael of Leesburg, Florida; her caring siblings, Shirley Renfroe, Judy Hough, and her brother Ted Hagler. Her adoring grandchildren, Collin Bailey and Victoria Watley, will miss her deeply. She also leaves behind countless aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family, who she loved dearly.
In honoring Sheila's life, we remember the joy she brought into the world and the grace with which she lived her life. May we all aspire to carry forward the virtues she embodied so fully. Sheila, your memory will forever be a blessing to us all.
