SGM (RET) Charles Clifton Hinson, 94, of Columbus, Ga passed away on October 31, 2024, at Columbus Hospice House.  Graveside services with full military honors will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 1:30 PM according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, Ga 31907 with Rev. David Lix officiating.  The family will receive friends November 13, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the funeral home.

Charles was born May 9, 1930, in West Palm Beach, Fl, son of Corwin E. Hinson and Alta Green Hinson.  SGM Hinson was a decorated Army Veteran and a Purple Heart Recipient.  He married Clara E. Cofer on March 8, 1952, and had 55 amazing years together.  He was a Deacon at Liberty Baptist Church where he worshipped the Lord. He loved to sing for the Lord, fish, and spend time with his family.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara E. Hinson, two brothers, Corwin E. "Pete" Hinson and James W. Hinson, one sister, Sandra K. Alisha, foster daughter Patricia A. Phillips, son in law, Dennis C Jantz, and a great great-grandson Jayson W Gordon.

Survivors include two children, Brenda Kay Jantz of Columbus, and Charles C. “Chuck” Hinson (Mary) of Jupiter, Fl; two grandchildren, Heather Rourk (Nick) of Columbus, and Kelly Lalley (Brian) of Columbus: four great grandchildren, Jeremy Gordon (Kayla) of Smiths, Al, Justin Jantz (Ashley) of Phenix City, Al, Austin Warr (Megan) of Eufaula, Al, and Nathan Rourk of Columbus; five great great-grandchildren, Luke Gordon, Khori Gordon, Ashtyn Jantz, Hayvyn Jantz, and Amelia Warr; and his Significant Spouse, Violet Ann Hinson.
