Sfc Edward "Larry" Strickland, Sr.

SFC Edward “Larry” Strickland, Sr., age 74, of Columbus, Georgia passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 26, surrounded by his loved ones.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 1,2021 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, Ga. 31907 with Rev. Jonathan Badgett officiating. Visitation with the family will be held immediately following the service.

Larry was born September 11, 1946 in Screven, Georgia son of the late Thomas A. Strickland and Novadean Tootle Strickland. He proudly served 20 years in the United States Army to include two tours in Vietnam and was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, golfing and traveling.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Glenda F. Strickland of Columbus, Ga; son, Edward Larry Strickland, Jr. (Cindy) of Midland, Ga; daughter, Sonya Hardin (Jeff) of Midland, Ga; sister, Linda “Sue” Rozier of Jesup, Ga; four grandchildren: Ashlee Burt (Jeff); Brandon Hardin (fiancé Lucy Davis); Justin Strickland (Leighann); Spencer Hardin; three great-grandchildren: Jackson Murrell, Hunter Burt and Addison Strickland and many other nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
