Sfc Willis Dewey (Ret.) Strickland

Willis "Bob" Dewey Strickland, 80, of Columbus, GA died Monday, May 20, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Strickland was born January 15, 1933 in Ocala, FL son of the late Dewey and Hattie Strickland. He retired after 22 years from the U.S. Army as Sergeant First Class having served in the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict. During his military career he received two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, and was a POW in the Korean Conflict for 17 months.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Marie Strickland, second wife, Dianne Wall Strickland, and two brothers, Jesse Strickland and Robert Strickland.
Survivors include his son, Steve Allen Strickland of Columbus, GA, daughters, Pamela Strickland Crowder (Jeff) of Midland, GA and Jill Elizabeth Strickland of Columbus, GA, sisters, Pauline Mobley (Johnny) of Meridian, MS, Irene Ayers of Ocala, FL and Lela Strickland of Goose Creek, SC, three grandchildren, Tyler Crowder of Statesboro, GA, Jamie Crowder of Midland, GA and Chelsea Crowder Alexander (Brock) of Savannah, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 233 12th St # 710, Columbus, GA 31901.
