Ronald Eugene Peters, 78, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice.
Graveside Services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Peters was born December 26, 1935 in LeMar, Iowa son of the late Ralph A. Peters and Mable Crawford Peters. He retired after 20 years as a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After his military career, he retired as an engineer with Southern Railroad and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Locomotive Engineers in the American Legion.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Yuriko Matsui Peters.
Survivors include his daughter, Regina Price (Timothy) of Columbus, GA; sons, Allen Peters (Stephanie) of Lake Oswego, OR, Donald Peters (Paula) of Fayetteville, GA, and Ron Peters (Clarissa) of Little Rock, AR; brothers, Keith Peters (Jeanette) of Ft. Collins, CO and Darrell Peters (Pat) of Beford, TX; sisters, Diane Boisen (Gary) of Omaha, NB and Karen Merrick (Dr. Robert) of Dimone, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Cammeron, Corrie, John, Michael, Sophia, Samuel, Leya, Robert, Stephanie, Jeffrey, KAtlyn; 6 great-grandchildren, Bayley, Jansen, Alexis, Aeris, Sion, Rinoa.
Flowers will be accepted, but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to the John B. Amos Cancer Center, 1831 5th Ave Columbus, GA 31904.
