SFC (Ret.) Thomas Arlie Norman, 77, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, November 6, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
SFC (Ret.) Norman was born February 21, 1939 in Knoxville, TN son of the late Roy J. and Della Rollins Norman. He retired after 21 years in the U.S. Army as Sergeant First Class having served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Vietnam Service Medal w/ 1 Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, 2 Overseas Service Bars, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He later worked for over 15 years as a Construction Foreman for the Columbus Housing Authority. SFC (Ret.) Norman was a member of the Muscogee Masonic Lodge #77 and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Survivors include his loving wife, Charlotte R. Norman of Columbus, GA, son, Anthony Wayne Norman (Eleanor) of Phenix City, AL, grandson, Jessie Bryan Norman, who is a member of the U.S. Army Honor Guard, and his wife, Ally, of Ft. Hood, TX, and great grandson, Jax Carter Norman.
