Sfc John William (Ret) Mustacchio
November 24, 1930 — October 4, 2016
SFC (Retired) John W. Mustacchio, 85 of Columbus, passed away peacefully October 04, 2016 at home due to complications of the West Nile Virus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Brian O'Shaughnessy officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be held in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 10:15 AM Tuesday morning at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
SFC Mustacchio was born in Louisville, OH, son of the late Michael D. Mustacchio and Anastasia (Campbell) Mustacchio. He bravely served in the U.S. Army for 22 years, earning numerous medals of honor and bravery. Two Bronze Stars including one with Valor Device, Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal; 20/S Bars, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal/Device, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and a Purple Heart. After retiring from the army he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years and was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church.
SFC Mustacchio is survived by his loving wife, Loretta "Colleen" of 62 years, his children, Maria R. Mustacchio, Shawn M. Mustacchio, Angela M. Chandler, (Ron), Theresa M. Dodds (Ben). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda M. Compton, Taylor W. Dodds and Elizabeth "Grace" Dodds. His extended family; Danny Dien Walker (John), granddaughter Sophia Dien, grandson Jonathan Walker (Lizzie) and great granddaughters, Evie and Sylvia.
