Retired SFC O. B. King, 85, Lake Harding, Valley, AL, died, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Friday, August 1, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Jim Dykes and Rev. Mitchell Smith officiating. An interment will be held at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Retired SFC King was born September 23, 1928 in Dyer, TN, son of the late Herbert King and Ester Cunningham. He retired after 20 years of service from the United States Army and later worked for several years at Sears Roebuck and attended Beulah Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline J. King; son, Bryan Allen King; sisters, Wilma Olive and Christine Ramsey; and brother, J.W. King.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Faye Prestwood King of Valley, AL; sons, Raymond E. King (Penny) of Ellerslie, GA, Robert King (Terry) of Warner Robins, GA, and Jimmy King (Kathy) of Columbus, GA; step-daughters, Debbie Kimbrell of Columbus, GA and Mary Coleman of Lake Harding, Valley, AL; brother, Marion Ramsey of Cleveland, OH; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews in Dyer, TN.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions the the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org
