(Ret.) SFC Otis W. Holland, 64, of Columbus, GA passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at Columbus Hospice House.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., at Victory Independent Baptist Church, located at 3150 North Lumpkin Road, Columbus, Georgia, with Pastor H. Preston Parker officiating. Burial will be at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at McMullen Funeral Home located at 3874 Gentian Boulevard, Columbus, Georgia 31907.

Mr. Holland was born May 14, 1948, in Lake Park, GA, to the late Robert T. Holland and Hiburnia M. Smith Holland. Mr. Holland was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army having served three tours to Vietnam. During his service, he received the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with 4 Palms, 5 Overseas Service Beret, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Qualification Badge (M-16), and Good Conduct Medal (5th Award). Mr. Holland worked as a Mail Clerk for Civil Service, Fort Benning, Georgia from 1986 until his passing. He attended Meadows College with a degree in Engineering Technology. He was a member of Victory Independent Baptist Church since March 4, 1983 where he served as a Trustee and Usher. He also took care of the church grounds for many years.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed especially by his loving wife of 30 years, Margarita H. Holland. He is survived by his son, Brian K. Holland (Michelle) of Summerville, Alabama, a daughter, Shani Holland Adams (Brent) of Brentwood, Tennessee, his step-children, Mirella Kirner (Stephan) of Oberroth Shwabau, Germany, Dennis H. Woyke (Mary Anne) of Ellerslie, Georgia, Dwayne Morrison of Toledo, Ohio, Don Morrison (Ruth) of Marion, Illinois, Melinda Sykes (Thomas) of Phenix City, Alabama; his brothers, Roy Holland (Ruth) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Sylvester Holland (Theresa) of Hull, Georgia, Carl Holland (Carlene) of Jennings, Florida, Felton Holland of Jennings, Florida, Timothy Holland (Jeanette) of Virginia, one sister, Doris Holland Davis (Ralph) of Tampa, Florida, 15 grandchildren, 18 nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
