SFC (Ret) Donavan G. Hernandez, 43, of Columbus, GA died Saturday July 12, 2014 at his residence.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held 2:00 PM Thursday July 17, 2014 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Rev. Keith Cowart officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA.
Ranger Hernandez was born April 30, 1971 in Ft. Carson, CO to Alex and Theresa Hernandez of New Mexico. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. He spent 16 years in the 3rd Ranger Battalion and 15 years in Special Forces. After his retirement from the Army he became an investment banker with BB&T. He was a member of Christ Community Church, President Elect of Muscogee Rotary Club, Member of the U.S. Army Ranger Association, and Member of the 75th Ranger Association. He was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Mickey.
Survivors other than his parents include his wife, Crystal Moore Hernandez of Columbus, children, Christopher Hernandez, Elizabeth Hernandez, Victoria Hernandez, and Chloe Hernandez, brothers and sisters, Al Hernandez, Matthew Hernandez, Joseph Hernandez, Mary Harvey, Valeska Corderman, Jessica Litts, and Christina Whittlesey.
