SFC (Ret.) John F. Goodwin, III, 86, of Columbus, GA died Monday, May 6, 2019 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.
SFC (Ret.) Goodwin was born February 11, 1933 in Farmington, NH son of the late John F. Goodwin, Jr. and Odabelle Willey Goodwin. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class having served for 21 years. He later worked and retired after 20 years as a mechanic for Ray Rents and also worked at Ace Hardware for several years. SFC (Ret.) Goodwin also enjoyed working on old cars.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Treitinger Goodwin, son, Ernest W. Goodwin, and brother, Derald H. Goodwin of Rochester, NH.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda G. Buchans (Dwight) of Hamilton, GA and Diane G. Rawn (Bill) of Columbus, GA, sons, John F. Goodwin, IV (Debbie White) of Columbus, GA and Daniel T. Goodwin of Columbus, GA, brother, Wayne Goodwin (Jan) of Rochester, NH, grandchildren, Scott Goodwin, Clint Goodwin, Amanda Burke, Travis Buchans and Kelly Rawn, great-grandchildren, Ben Burke, Alice Burke, Zack Burke and Badge Burkhart-Goodwin.
