SFC (Ret.) Melvin T. Duncan, 82, of Columbus, GA died peacefully with his wife and children by his side on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.

SFC (Ret.) Duncan was born September 18, 1936 in Charleston, WV son of the late Ernest and Maude Pennington Duncan. He retired as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. After his retirement from the military, he worked 18 years as a Sheriff for CSU.

He loved to play Bingo, watch FOX News and talking politics, and driving. He loved spending time with his family in other states. SFC Duncan was a member of the VFW, American Legion and FOP. He was a proud, retired Army Veteran and FOP.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Peggy Duncan of Columbus, GA, daughters, Erna D. Herrera (Richard) of San Antonio, TX, Caitlin Erika Johnson (Ted) of Providence, RI and Terri Duncan (Tammie) of Austin, TX, son, Melvin T. Duncan, Jr. (Nette) of Floresville, TX, brother, James E. Duncan (Josie) of Charleston, WV, sister, Marjorie Jones of Charleston, WV, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial donations to the Fraternal Order of Police.
