William C. Burch, Jr., 81, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery, AL.
Graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, September 17, 2012 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery with Dr. Frederick L. Small officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Burch was born September 25, 1930 in Jackson Hole, WY son of the late William C. and Kathrine Gordoff Burch. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in World War II, Korean Conflict, and Vietnam War. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Columbus housing authority. He was an avid auto mechanic and loved to travel.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Tanner Burch.
Survivors include his sons, David Burch of Columbus, GA, William C. Burch, III of Florida and Marty Burch of Box Springs, GA, daughter, Kathy Stephens of Seale, AL, brother, Julius Burch (Judy) of Sun City, NM, sisters, Wilma Conner (John) and Eleanor Hill (Art) of all of Casper, WY, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving and devoted canine companions, Spike, Sparky, Coon, and Blackie.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial donations to the Childrenâ
