SFC (Ret) William Lawson Braddock, 91, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Gentiva Hospice at Emory University Midtown in Atlanta, GA.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 15, 2013 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA with Col (Ret) Ronald Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mr. Braddock was born January 3, 1922 in Uvalda, GA , son of the late Needam Braddock and Della Andrews Braddock. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and Korean War having received the following honors: Silver Star, Purple Heart with 1 bronze oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze service stars, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany clasp, National Defense Service Medal with 1 bronze service star, Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars, and United Nations Service Medal. He later worked for the Muscogee County School District as a bus driver. He was a member of the American Legion on North Lumpkin Road.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ehrline Richardson Braddock and his son, Maj. David Michael Braddock.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathy S. Braddock of Columbus, GA and Linda Ogle (Ronald) of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Courtney Van Tassell (Andrew) and Chris Ogle (Sarah); daughter-in-law, Janet M. Braddock; and great grandchildren, Lawson David Van Tassell, Chris Ogle, Jr., Jenna Ogle, Hannah Ogle, Camie Ogle and Eric Ogle.
