To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven. (Ecclesiates.3:1)
A TIME TO BE BORN: On March 10, 1948 in Tuskegee, Alabama the late Elijah Florence and Girtha Miles were blessed with a very special son, Thomas Alexander who was later nicknamed “Dean.” He would be the only child born to Girtha.
A TIME TO LEARN: Thomas was educated in the public schools of Tuskegee Alabama
A TIME TO WORK: Due to the Vietnam War, Thomas was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 at the age of 20. He enlisted in Montgomery Alabama. From Montgomery, he was sent to Fort Benning Georgia for Basic Training. Sometime thereafter, he was sent to Vietnam. He fought in the Vietnam War and earned the Combat Infantry Badge. His return home from Vietnam was not a pleasant one; however, that did not deter him from marching on and making a career of the United States Army. His service to his country would allow him to travel to Fort Rucker Alabama, Nuremburg Germany, San Antonio, Texas and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. These are just a few of his duty assignments. Thomas earned various awards, badges, campaign ribbons, certificates, and medals. Thomas later found the time to continue his education at Central Texas College, earning his degree. He did all of this while being a soldier, instructor, husband, father, friend and, most importantly a MENTOR. In 1991, Sergeant First Class Thomas Alexander decided to retire in Columbus, Georgia. At this time, Total Systems gained a stellar Veteran employee.
A TIME TO LOVE: In 1980, Thomas decided to marry the woman who would make him a better man, Miss Elaine Towns. The team became known to many as Mr. and Mrs. “A.” The Alexanders would go on to raise two children and make countless friends close enough to be called family.
A TIME TO SERVE: Thomas joined Ambassadors of Christ where he and Elaine attended and served faithfully.
A TIME TO DIE: On Monday, December 7, 2020 he heard the Savior’s voice say, “You have fought a good fight, you have finished your course and you have kept the Faith –I have prepared a place for you, Come on home.” He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Elaine, his loving children, Henry and Michelle, grandchildren, Julian, Ashlee, Asya, De’Von, Shanice, Jazmin, Damien, Alexander and Jaxon, great-grandchildren, Kingston and Kyson, and other loving relatives and friends.
