Seagle Moncel Sexton, a loving, kind, and friendly man, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 7, 2023, in Columbus, Georgia. Born on February 4, 1936, in Bloomington, Indiana, Seagle lived an accomplished and fulfilling life surrounded by family and friends.

A Celebration of life will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be the Early Birdies Golf Group at Green Island.

Seagle was a dedicated family man, survived by his daughters Sherry Duncan (Doug), Sonia Sexton, Lisa Yakaitis (Peter), and Deidre Watford (Mike), all of Columbus, Georgia, and Roswell, Georgia. His love for his family extended to his grandchildren, Taylor Groce (Brittany), Garrett Groce (Delaney), Teil Henley (Russell), Laura Lea Vernon (Hampton), Claire Yakaitis, Eric Yakaitis, and John Michael Watford. Seagle was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

Seagle was preceded in death by his parents Seagle S. and Hazel Rice Sexton and his wife Barbara Nowling Sexton.

Seagle's life was marked by his service to his country and community. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in World War II, and later became an officer in the Columbus Police Department. Throughout his lifetime, Seagle owned and operated several businesses, including Sexton Motor Company, which was his pride and joy.

A man of many interests, Seagle was a member of the Green Island Country Club, where he was a founding member of the "Early Birdies Golf Group." Known for placing bets on 18 holes of golf, Seagle was often referred to as the banker or "Walking ATM Machine." Win or lose, it was all about being with his friends, playing golf, and maybe telling a tall tale or two.

Seagle's love for his family extended to his golfing buddies, who were considered part of his extended family. His warm and welcoming personality made him a cherished friend to many, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In remembering Seagle Moncel Sexton, we celebrate the life of a man who was loving, kind, and friendly. His unwavering dedication to his family, service to his country and community, and passion for golf left an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched. Seagle's memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the countless friends who had the privilege of knowing him.
