Sara "Libbie" Elizabeth Purgason

Sara “Libbie” Elizabeth Purgason, 58, of Columbus, GA passed away on September 8, 2021 at Piedmont Midtown.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 11, 2021 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Libbie was born on January 26, 1963 in Thomaston, Ga. Libbie’s greatest joys in life were her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Although she never had children, she loved each of them as if they were her own. She enjoyed listening to music, playing games and crocheting, but most importantly she made sure to make each moment count with the family and friends that she cared so much for.

Survivors include sister Laurie Cartwright (Rocky) of Warm Springs, Ga., brother Curtis (Al) Purgason Jr., of Box Springs, Ga., sister Leslie Dalton of Panama City Beach, Fl., niece Kandi Oakes (Steve) of Cataula, Ga., niece Kristi Harris (Robert) of Upatoi, Ga., niece Alyssa Oswalt of Columbus, Ga., and nephew Cody Purgason (Gabby) of Box Springs, Ga. She also leaves behind three great-nieces (Karcyn Harris, Harleigh Harris and Chandler Purgason) and three great-nephews ( Noah Strickland-Disinski, Jayce Oswalt and Cooper Purgason). She was preceded in death by her parents Curtis Purgason Sr. and Sara Purgason Johnson and her nephew Justin Strickland.
