Sarah Jeannette Barnes, 77, of Buena Vista, GA died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Holloway officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Barnes was born January 6, 1936 in Coffee County, AL daughter of the late James Perry Dean and Mary Lou Clark Dean. She was a seamstress and a member of Britt David Baptist Church.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters; Susie Mae Edwards and Anita Wise, her brother; Robert Dean, and two grandchildren; Rebecca Barnes and Bradlee Barnes.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years; Leon Elmon Barnes of Buena Vista, GA, daughter; Myra J. Wood of Buena Vista, GA, sons; Tim Barnes (Cindy) of Palmetto, GA and Jeffery Barnes of Buena Vista, GA, sisters; Eleanor Smith (Von) of Defuniak Springs, FL, and Miriam Wooden (Steve) of Friendswood, TX, brothers; George Dean of Milligan, FL, Ronnie Dean (Mary Ann), Steve Dean (Dobie), and Alton Dean (Dorothy) all of Kinston, AL, Glendal Dean (Lenora) of Jacksonville, FL, and 3 grandchildren; Christine Walter, Matthew Wood, and Jeffrey Barnes Jr.
