Sara L. Smith, 82, of Columbus, GA died Friday, August 2, 2013 at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, GA.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Christ Community Church with Reverend Derrick Shields officiating. Private Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mrs. Smith was born November 30, 1930 in East Chicago, IN, daughter of the late James Thompson and Julia Jones Thompson. She was a homemaker and member of Christ Community Church. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Smith; 3 brothers, James, Eugen and William; 5 sisters, Georgia, Rose, Emma, Roberta (Birdie Bee), Henrietta (Honey Bunch) and 9 additional siblings.
Survivors include her daughters, Andrea Shields (Derrick) of Columbus, GA and Julie (Brennie) Smith - Espinosa of Green Bay, WI; sons, Andrew Smith, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN, Steven L. Smith (Lois) of Chicago, IL, and Cedric L. Smith of Albuquerque, NM; eleven grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to New Horizons Treatment Center, 2100 Comer Avenue, Columbus, GA 31901.
