With deep sadness, the family of Sara Ellen Cullifer McGee announces her death. Sara, known as Mom, Dina and Aunt D to her family, died January 22, 2013, at Phenix City Health Care in Phenix City, Alabama. She had been in failing health for several years, but recently suffered a series of strokes from which she could not recover.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 25, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Judy Hay officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA.
Sara, 83, was born December 16, 1929 in Randolph County, Georgia. Sara was the oldest daughter of the late Maeola and Douglas Cullifer. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, David Redding McGee, and their infant son, David Douglas McGee.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Randy and Carol McGee of Hamilton; a daughter and her husband, Debby and Rodney Brimberry of Columbus; Grandchildren: Shannon M. Castle and her husband Alex of Columbus; Lauren McGee of Colorado Springs, CO; Kelsey McGee and Justin Riviere of Columbus; Jamie Riviere of Roswell; Great grandchildren, Carolyne and Zander Castle of Columbusâ
