Samuel E. "Gene" McGahee, 89, Columbus, GA, died Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Mark Sasser and Chaplain Norman Drummond officiating. An interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. McGahee was born September 11, 1924 in Thomson, GA son of the late Albert McGahee and Sally Simon McGahee. He was a skilled carpenter in the Columbus area.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Syble Brookins McGahee; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include his daughters, Diane Hatcher (Roger) of Columbus, GA and Karen Griffin (Chip) of Midland, GA; son, Stanley McGahee (Belinda) of Columbus, GA; brother, Bobby McGahee of Thomson, GA; brother-in-law, Harold Brookins of Columbus, GA; sister-in-laws, June Brookins and Frances Brookins both of Columbus, GA; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road Columbus, GA 31909 or Gardens at Calvary Memorial Fund, 7595 Moon Road Columbus, GA 31909.
