Sally Lou C. Zastrow, 83, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Tucker officiating. There will be a private interment at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
Sally was born May 23, 1931 in Niagara Falls, NY, daughter of the late Dr. C. C. Childs and Eva Saunders Childs. Sally attended Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing and Buffalo State University to become a registered nurse. On March 21, 1953 in Niagara Falls, NY, Sally married Dick Zastrow after he returned from the Korean War. They set off for 52 years on a grand adventure living in many U. S. locations, including Hawaii and also in France.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel (Ret.) Richard E. "Dick" Zastrow and her sister, Ruth Childs Finney.
Survivors include her son, Mark Edward Zastrow (Irys) of Pride, LA; her daughters, Janet Zastrow of Washington, DC and Sharon Z. Cheatham (Spencer) of Columbus, GA; grandsons, Christopher Langford of Columbus, GA and Nicholas Langford (Evyn) of Clarksville, TN; and great grandchildren, Parker Grace Langford and Haigen James Langford both of Clarksville, TN.
