Saint Elmo (Bo) Horne, 95, and a resident of Columbus, GA, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Parkhill Cemetery with Pastor Mike Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA.
Bo was born in Phenix City, AL to the late Lonnie Horne and Lizzie Jackson. He was a loving and supportive husband and father whose life was centered around his family. He graduated from Central High School before serving in the army as a First Sergeant in the Artillery Battalion during World War II. Bo worked for more than 25 years in manufacturing for Schwobilt Clothing Company and was a member of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church. He was an avid baseball fan and for more than fifteen years, his passion was coaching young boys in the Pony (Pioneer) Little League, North Columbus Babe Ruth and Connie Mack leagues.
In addition to his parents, Bo was preceded in death by his four siblings and two of his sons, Ronald (Ron) Horne and Robert (Bobby) Horne and daughter, Sandra Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mary (Louise) Pittman Horne as well as his son, Steve Horne (Jennifer) and daughter, Pam Horne. Survivors also include nine grandchildren, Jason Horne, Shandell Woods, Charmin O'Block, Kami Davidson (Mike), Ashley Greenway (Brandon), Clay Horne, Mandi Horne, Laurie Skibbe (Ryan) and Kathleen Horne and great-grandchildren, Alivia Davidson, Gabe Davidson, Lola Greenway, Lottie Kate Greenway and Harper Skibbe as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
