Ruthanne Robinson Edge

Ruthanne Robinson Edge, 91, of Columbus, passed away on January 5, 2023. Services will be in Turner Chapel of St. Luke UMC in downtown Columbus, Georgia on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 with Rev. Dick Reese officiating. Family visitation will be at 10am, with the funeral service at 11am.

She was born May 9, 1931 in Asheville, North Carolina to Victor Russell Robinson and Ruth Jones Robinson.  Her family moved to Columbus in 1935, where she lived for most of the rest of her life. She attended school in Columbus, graduating from Jordan Vocational High School in 1948 where she was a majorette in the marching band.  In 1948, she met Howard Lewis Edge, to whom she was married from 1953 until his death in 1975.
Mrs. Edge was a member of the Jesus Is Lord Sunday School Class, the Chancel Choir, and the Handbell Choir at St. Luke UMC. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Wm. D. Moye Chapter #427, OES.

Mrs. Edge traveled extensively throughout her life.  She visited all 50 states, went on a riverboat cruise on the Amazon River, made several trips to Europe and Africa, and logged over 200 scuba dives all over the Caribbean.  For many years, she volunteered at both Contact Help Line and Rape Crisis.  She was a docent for Zoo Atlanta for over 25 years and made many trips to Zoo Conferences around the country.

Mrs. Edge was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her brother, V.R. Robinson, Jr, and her son, Howard Lewis Edge, Jr.  She is survived by her son, Russell Curtis Edge and his wife Lynn, her daughter-in-law, Donna Heaston Edge, grandsons Howard Lewis Edge, III, Timothy Brian Edge, and Todd Benjamin Edge, and great-grandchildren Howard Lewis Edge IV, Travis Lee Edge, and Callie Johanna Edge.
