Ruth Ann Gates, 73, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at her residence in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held 11:00AM Monday, August 17, 2020 in the Chapel at McMullen funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. David Helms officiating. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, those attending the funeral service will be required to wear a face mask and social distancing will be in effect.
Ruth was born March 1, 1947 in Roanoke, AL to the late Howard Sears and Sarah Mooney Sears. She was a Civil Servant at Ft. Benning for 36 years working in bookkeeping and payroll. She was a member of the Shrine Club of Phenix City, AL and a member of Daughters of the Nile AL-Phurah Temple No. 126. Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and playing bingo, grandkids, NASCAR, concerts and going on cruises.
She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Donald Gates of Columbus, GA, sons, Nathaniel Gates (Amber) of Bartow, FL, Bobby Gates (Charity) of Columbus, GA, brother in law, Eddie (Cara) of Carlisle, IA, Cousin, Donna Bridwell (Charlie) of Greer, S.C., grandchildren, Damion Rollberg, Tehya Mulder, Zachariah Gates, Joseph Gates, Joshua Gates, Jamin Gates, and Jeremiah Gates. The Gates family would like to give a special thank you to Larry and Rosie Wisnant and family.
