Russ Kinman, 49 of Columbus, Georgia, went home to the loving arms of Jesus, Wednesday February 9, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
A memorial service celebrating his life, officiated by Reverend Alan Autrey, will be held 1:00 PM EST, Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Church on the Rock located at 4 Crawford Church Rd. Phenix City, AL Highway 80 West. The family will receive loved ones and friends after the service.
Russ was born on February 13, 1972 in Columbus, Georgia, to Gloria Elizabeth Smalshaf Kinman and Russell B. Kinman III, “Rusty.”
Russ is survived by his Mother, Gloria Elizabeth Smalshaf Kinman, Father Russell Kinman III “Rusty”, his beloved children, son Russell B Kinman V “Russ” of Carrollton, Georgia, his daughters Colin Elizabeth Kinman of Statesboro Georgia and Riley Brook Kinman of Columbus Georgia, his loving Grandmother, Gloria Elizabeth Smalshaf “Oma”, Uncles John A. Smalshaf Jr. and Randy Smalshaf, Cousin Ryan Smalshaf, Nephew Sam Norwood and a loving extended family. He is also survived by many lifelong friends, coworkers and many new friends he’s met along the way.
Russ was preceded in death by his Grandfather John A Smalshaf, Sr. his paternal grandparents Russell B Kinman Jr. “Buck” and Joe Kelly Kinman of Columbus, Georgia and half-brother Jamie Norwood.
Russ was an avid sportsman, playing Little League baseball and football. He played football at Richards Junior High School and Hardaway High School, where he graduated. Russ was a big Georgia Bulldog football fan. He enjoyed working out and body building, at Oates Gym. His greatest love was his children, watching them grow, spending time together, attending all their school sporting events and bragging on their accomplishments. He loved spending time at family get-togethers, Holidays and Birthdays.
He enjoyed his most rewarded career as a Cable Lineman. He also worked as a Foreman and Supervisor and Vice President for several landscaping companies over the years. He would always help his coworkers in any way possible.
Russ would do anything to help anyone. His family and friends will miss his funny sense of humor and his contagious laugh. He was a loving Son, Father, Grandson and friend. He will always be loved and missed, until we see him again.
Flowers will be accepted or donations made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Paws Humane Society of Columbus Georgia or Rock Academy-4 Crawford Church, Road, Phenix City.
